Surface Area calculator for Cone, Cube, Cylinder, Rectangluar Prism, Sphere.

What is a Surface Area?

The Surface Area means the total area of the surface of three dimensional object. For example: the surface area of the cube means the area of each side of the cube added together.

Cone

Cone is similar like pyramids, instead of having polygonal base they are having circular base. So the surface area of cone is the addition of the area of the circular base and the lateral surface area.

In order to calculate this, just enter the Radius of the circular base and height of the cone.

The Surface Area of the Cone is calculated as;

Area of the circular base = πr2
Lateral surface area = πr √(r2 + h2)
Total surface area = πr2 + πr √(r2 + h2)

Cylinder

A Cylinder is having two circular bases one in top and another at bottom. So the surface area of the cylinder is the addition of the area of two circular bases and the surface area of the side.

The Surface Area of the Cylinder is calculated as;

Area of the circular base (top and bottom) = 2πr2
Surface area of side = 2πrh
Total Surface Area = 2πr2 + 2πrh

Cube

A Cube is like a square prism. It is having 6 sides and each side same in length.

The Surface Area of the Cube is calculated as;

Surface Area of the Cube = 6 x side2

Sphere

A Sphere is a three dimensional object like is the surface of the ball. Like circle, the distance from center point to any point in its boundary is same in length which is called as radius, but in 3 dimensional.

The Surface Area of the Sphere is calculated as;

Surface Area of the Sphere = 4πr2

Rectangluar Prism

A Rectangluar Prism is a three dimensional object having 6 sides. Each side is considered as a rectangle. So to calculate the surface area of Rectangluar Prism, we should calculate the area of each side and add them together.

The Surface Area of the Rectangluar Prism is calculated as;

Surface Area of the Rectangluar Prism = 2 × (W * L + L * H + H * W)

Triangular Prism

A Triangular Prism is a three dimensional object having 5 sides. The top and bottom having the triangle surface and the 3 sides having the rectangluar surface.

The Surface Area of the Triangular Prism is calculated as;

Area of the Triangle (Ab) = √( p(p-a)(p-b)(p-c))
a,b,c = three sides of the Triangle
p = perimeter of the Triangle
p = (a+b+c)/2
Surface Area of the Triangular Prism = 2Ab + h(a+b+c)
